Gooseberry Mesa Trail

Gooseberry Mesa is just outside of Zion National Park, and it is a wonderful place to hike and bike as it has a trail popular among locals and tourists alike. Mountain bikers enjoy the trail on Gooseberry since biking is prohibited on most of the trails within the national park. Thus, they can enjoy virtually the same scenery of the park.

Bikers enjoy the mesa since it is home to some slick rock terrain that is fun to ride on since people can closely inspect the scenery as they ride through it. Further, it can provide some technical challenges that makes things exciting for the enthusiasts, but riders of all skill levels will enjoy riding on the mesa's trail.

The Gooseberry Mesa trail is a 10 mile roundtrip that is suitable for beginning and intermediate riders since the path is relatively flat. However, advanced bikers will also enjoy the trail since some of the terrain lends itself well to those who have a strong sense of adventure to perform stunts. Since riding here is easy enough for beginners and has rugged features that will excite experts, a large group or family will enjoy embarking on this bike trek.

A flat path enables people to take leisurely ride so that they can enjoy the rather unique red scenery -- peppered with a variety of trees including: junipers, pinions, ponderosa pines, and manzanitas -- that annually attracts millions to the Zion National Park area. Even the Virgin River continues to work sculpt the landscape, and it is fun to see visit an area that is constantly changing. However, this flatness also allows people to build some speed to have more fun and get a more intense workout.
